If you were at school around 10:19 am on Thursday, October 19, then you may have noticed we had an “earthquake”! Thursday was the Great ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in the world!
The drill is participated in by most schools as well as many professional buildings, especially in California, in order to prepare people for the event of an actual earthquake. The drills began on October 19th of 2008.
In case you didn’t catch the drift on Thursday morning, in the event of an actual earthquake, you should:
DROP. COVER. HOLD ON!
Also remember to stay away from windows or other objects that could break loose, these have the pontential to harm you.
At Silver Oak this morning, we noticed some interesting behavior amongst our Falcons. I guess you could say Quarter One finals week has really gotten to us, because quite a number of students, including myself, were seen with their chromebooks and laptops out on the field after the “quake”, working on essays, finishing final projects, and studying for midterms.
Hey, academics are important!
I hope all you Falcons out there did well on your finals this week, gotta survive those first! Congratulations on getting through Quarter One, and have an amazingly awesome second Quarter! You got this!
